Series – Liminal I – VII
2024

Liminal is a series of seven sculptures crafted from powder-coated stainless steel, each positioned on a wooden base screen-printed with the historic map of Shahjahanabad, Delhi. Inspired by origami and kirigami, these modernist forms reinterpret Delhi’s traditional jaali patterns, creating intricate lattices that play with light and shadow. The concept of “liminality” is expressed in each piece, capturing the space between past and present, permanence and transformation. Unbound by a fixed arrangement, Liminal invites viewers to reposition the sculptures, transforming the work’s dynamics and creating a personalized interaction. This flexibility reflects Delhi’s evolving identity, bridging heritage with a contemporary aesthetic.
Through interactivity, Liminal celebrates resilience while contemplating the balance between preservation and progress in urban spaces.
